The Quillpill beta aims to identify social and mobile web breakthroughs that will help literature free itself from the status quo to reach new authors and readers alike. Like the paperback put readership in the pockets of a new generation in 1935, we at Quillpill aim to put authorship into the pockets of society via their mobile phones. It's not just a new way to read, it's a new way to write.

Elissa Rose has been an illustrator and amateur writer for ten years and has been working professionally in virtual worlds and digital design for five. She has been responsible for the concept and graphic design of Quillpill. She presented the vision of Quillpill to her co-founder in February of 2008. Derek Maune is a technologist and virtual worlds designer and integration coder who has worked with Elissa on business development of the concept and technical management. Together they pushed through a prototype of the platform to show in the shadows at the 2008 SxSW festival in Austin, TX and launched a larger beta version of the site in June of 2008. The Quillpill team is currently working on the newest version of the site which aims to be a full-featured platform for drafting, editing, promoting and publishing literature.

Mobile writing had its start in Japan, and from the beginning, Quillpill has been working closely with Genkii, KK in Tokyo to identify best-of-breed methods and technologies for the digital literature revolution.
